It is with pleasure after the historical successful of Nepal Festival Darling Harbour April 2006 to inform you that Non Resident Nepali Association National Coordination Committee, Australia Incorporated in NSW, the Australian chapter of the NRN Global Network and Nepali Embassy Canberra in association with all registered Nepali Community Organizations in Australia, the business community and the wider Nepalese Community is organizing a one full day event at Federation Square Melbourne and Darling Harbour Sydney, “Nepal Festival 2008”.
NRN Australia is a not for profit community organization incorporated in NSW. NRN Australia was established in 2005 with the aim to promote the interest of all the people of Nepalese origin and promote Nepalese culture, heritage and foster goodwill between Australia and Nepal .
Nepalese community is one of the newest emerging communities in Australia . Nepalese community is rapidly growing, culturally and linguistically diverse community and it has an important contribution to make to Multicultural Australia. The population of Nepalese community is increasing rapidly every year as more students and migrants make their way to Australia . There are currently over 22,000 Nepalese people living in various part of Australia .
Since 2005 NRN Australia has been organizing various events and activities every year to preserve our unique culture, tradition and heritage. Each program has been a great success with overwhelming support from the members of the community and their friends. In 2006 Nepal Festival, there were more than 5500 visitors.
The focus of this scheduled event is also to develop an active community's network and different structures for Nepalese community to be widely accepted and to integrate as an active member of the wider Australian and NSW multicultural society.
The aim of this event is to promote Nepalese culture, heritage, tourism and trade amongst the Nepalese residing in Australia and the wider Australian Community. To enhance the flavor of the day, there will be family and children's fun programs, Nepalese Food Stalls, Handicraft Stalls, Business Information Stalls, Nepalese Cultural and Musical Concert and other several fun programs
It is also to encourage and foster friendship between the two countries as more and more Nepali Nationals are either migrating to Australia or are coming in numbers for education. Similarly an increasing number of Australians are visiting Nepal mainly as tourist or for humanitarian reasons. The "Nepal Festival 2008" will celebrate Nepal in Australia and will familiarize the Australian public to Nepal and its diversity.
